We live in Missouri, the “Show-Me” state. In fact, this slogan in the early 1900s became the unofficial state motto. It suggests our tendency to not easily be convinced. We won’t believe in something until we have seen enough proof to make us feel like it’s authentic and worth believing. James wrote a book in the NT that challenges us to make our faith real and observable. His basic idea is this: If we are truly followers of Jesus and people of faith, our beliefs will show up in the way we live. Through this “Show-Me” study, we will glean understanding from the teaching of James and be inspired to live authentic lives of faith.
